MN Passport & Hiking Club
Did you know there is such thing as Passport Club and Hiking Club with MN State Parks?! We found this out last summer and am obsessed. You can buy these passes at any of the 66 MN State Parks (while supplies last) or you can now buy these online and are only $14.95 each. For each state park you visit, and for each hike at a state park that you do, you fill out your passport with the stamp or passcode respectively and as you meet new milestones, earn rewards and memorabilia!
The goal of these clubs are to help you get outdoors more and adventure in the beauty of the MN State Parks all over the state. Each is so different with so much to offer — get out there and enjoy!
PASSPORT CLUB
The Passport Club lists all of the Minnesota State Parks from A-Z with the goal of collecting a stamp at each and every one! There are so many things to see at each of the state parks, and it’s my personal goal to be able to visit all of them and do a hike at each.
When you visit a new State Park, the visitors center usually has a little table/stand with the stamp for you to use and self-stamp your passport booklet. If you end up missing the stamp at a state park, don’t worry! You have the option to mail your passport into the state park to be stamped and mailed back to you.
Once you collect 25 stamps, you’ll receive a pin and a certificate for a free night of camping. Once you collect all the stamps for all of Minnesota’s state parks, you get another certificate for a free night!
HIKING CLUB
The Hiking Club marks 68 trails across the state parks and rec areas across Minnesota. These are designated trails (as listed in the Hiking Club book) and each have a ‘password’ that you would only find by walking the trail on signs about halfway through your hike. Write these down in your log along with the park name and trail distance to log it! As you complete different milestones like various miles hiked, you can send in your hiking club passport to receive badges and certificates for free nights of camping.
Super cool right?! We now bring these on every trip we go to, and keep them in the truck as well so there’s no chance of us forgetting! It’s a personal goal of mine to visit all the parks (and camp at them all), and hope we can get through it this season!
